A Nigerian private University BABCOCK University, located in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State recently asked students to come with N25,000 for a COVID-19 test as they resume for the first semester of the 2020/2021 academic session.
Babcock students are also asked to resume with personal safety kits such as infrared thermometer, at least a pack of disposable face masks or three reusable ones in addition to hand sanitisers.
This did not however go down well with parents as they complain about the cost of meeting such demand in addition to increased tuition fees irrespective of the fact that the students will be spending less time in school because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Unimaidgist gathered that One one student would be paying around N702,000 as fees for a six-week period on campus from October 25. The institution will resume in two batches – first to resume are the final year students in 400-Level, 500 and 600 Levels) next Monday and others on October 25.
