The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU is set to meet with the leadership of the Nigeria House of Representatives today, Wednesday.
This meeting was announced yesterday during a plenary session by the Speaker of the lower chamber of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila
Recall that ASUU got off from a similar meeting with the leadership of the Senate yesterday with strong indications that the protracted disagreement between the Federal Government and the Union over the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information Systems, IPPIS which ASUU tagged ‘foreign’ and fraught with shortcomings and unsuitable for the Nigerian work environment and welfare of the University teachers while preferring its self-developed University Transparency Account System (UTAS).
The meeting as UNIMAIDGIST understands is to further solidify efforts geared towards reaching a common ground between the Striking University teachers and the Federal Government.
The meeting will be between ASUU and the Senate Committee on Tertiary Education headed by Prof. Julius Ihonvbere.
