The Federal Government says there is a plan to engage with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU with a view to considering the alternative they have come up with as against the Federal Government’s proposed IPPIS.
This was stated by Senator Chris Ngige, Honorable Minister of Labor during an interview with Channels TV. The Minister said that after independence day (October 1), the Federal Government will sit with ASUU.
He also said all ASUU members have been receiving their salaries since the beginning lockdown. However, Unimaidgist understands that some members of ASUU have cried out that they have not received their salary since May while Senator Ngige said he wrote a memo to Mr. President that they are Nigerians and have families to feed too so they should be paid.
ASUU was yet to react to this development as the time of filing this report.
