It is not news anymore that the portal for university of Maiduguri tuition fee will be closed on the 12th January, 2020. This news has come as a serious concern for students who are yet to pay their tuition fees for the 2019/2020 academic session.
There have been series of calls, appeals and beckonings on the university management to extend this deadline. One cannot really say if the appeals are falling on deaf ears because the university has allowed a reasonable time, meaningful enough for everyone to pay up. Even if there seem to be no sign of extension however, UnimaidGist also joins voice with other well-meaning individuals to appeal to the University Management to be more magnanimous especially for the sake of newly admitted students and students with special needs. Unimaidgist was at some of the banks and business centers on campus to observe the rush hour payments an reports a very stressful procedure as the network has been generally poor and hence most of the students who showed up with their money could still not complete their payments and it’s already weekend.
On this note we advise all students who are yet to complete their payments (even as we remain optimistic on the magnanimity of the University management) to;
1. Try the alternative payment channel (I.e. ATM) as this option can be done anytime and anywhere even with your smart phones (just have a reliable internet network, money in your account and you’re good to go).
2. If you don’t have the money yet or can’t pay through ATM card, make sure you generate your remita and keep handy, experience has shown that even after the portal has been closed for payment, those that have their remita already generated can still pay so long as payment will be effected within a reasonable time (say, one week).
This is Unimaidgist’s effort towards making sure you’re properly guided.
