The Academic Staff Union Of University, ASUU, has promised to call off its over eight months old strike if the Federal Government plays by the agreement reached during their last meeting.
At the end of University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) ASUU congress meeting today, They resolved at accepting FG’s offer but wants all payments of outstanding salaries to be paid at the said date in December before calling off strike. The union insisted that due to failed promises by the federal government in past years, they will not call off the strike until all pending issues are resolved and met accordingly.
Also, the union has commence it’s nation wide consultation with other relevant stake holders whether to accept federal government offers so as to call off the strike.
Remember, ASUU has been on strike for over eight months over non payment of earned allowances and non fulfilment of their 2009 agreement with the federal government and state of the nation’s public universities.
