As we await for updatesl from the meeting slated for Wednesday 21/10/2020 between the Leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and the Federal Government of Nigeria, report reaching UNIMAIDGIST has it that the meeting has been postponed to hold on 26/10/2020.
This was contained in a release sent to UNIMAIDGIST by a top member of the Union Thursday evening. This development negates the rumors making rounds on various social media platforms that the meeting held yesterday and ended in a duel.
The reason for this postponement as UNIMAIDGIST understands is to allow the Federal government enough time to look into the demands of ASUU and take a well informed decision.
The release reads:
“The meeting between the Union and the FG was adjourned till 26th.
This is to allow the FG to consider the proposals of the union on the contentious issues surrounding;
i. EAA increment
ii. Increment in funding
iii. Paying salary arrears using GIFMIS platform.
All other issues have been exhausted.
As we await government’s response, let’s pray for God’s intervention on the matter so that an amicable resolution will be reached.
The union wishes to extend its gratitude for your perseverance.
